EPP Theory Seminar: Emily Nardoni - Anomalies of QFTs from M-theory
Abstract: Geometric engineering provides a powerful toolset to study quantum field theories and their strong coupling dynamics. In this talk we review a large class of 4d superconformal field theories that result from the compactification of 6d theories with N=(2,0) supersymmetry, known as Class S. Focusing on constructions that arise from wrapped M5-branes, we describe recent advances in developing a systematic toolkit for the computation of ’t Hooft anomalies of these QFTs based on anomaly inflow for the branes. We discuss an application of these results to holographic field theories, as well as other classes of geometrically engineered QFTs.
