EPP Theory Seminar: Lucian Harland-Lang: "The Structure of the Proton in the LHC Precision Era "


The determination of the quark and gluon structure of the proton is a central component of the precision phenomenology program at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This internal structure is quantified by the Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs), which encode the information related to the momentum distribution of quarks and gluons within the proton. In this talk I will present a selection of recent developments in the field of PDFs, and some of the opportunities and challenges presented by the high level of precision being aimed for (and achieved) at the LHC.
