Dark matter in compact stars and galactic structure - Joseph Bramante (Queen's U.)

-

Abstract: Dark matter that accumulates in compact stars can have a number of observable effects, including
thermal emission from the surface of neutron stars, converting neutron stars into black holes, and
causing white dwarfs to explode. After surveying prospects for these compact star dark matter searches,
I will talk about dark matter induced white dwarf explosions, and how these can
alter galactic structure through dark matter induced baryonic feedback.
